Every year on the 3rd weekend in August (this year 17th and 18th-) the International Light House Day is celebrated world over by radio amateurs by transmitting special event stations from light houses to show their impotence. The Radio Society has taken part in this event for more than 20 years with stations in Beruwela Barbaryn Island, Dondra and Galle.
This year the RSSL team of nearly 30 will be camping on Saturday and Sunday taking with them transmitting equipment and antennas. It’s a fine event of fellowship and making contact with other light houses and radio amateurs who are keen to work Sri Lanka. There will be two call signs in use. 4S7RS and 4S7LGT of the Radio Society of Sri Lanka. The team will be spearheaded by 4S7VJ Wijay, Kule 4S7KG, 4S7UV Uthpala, Mario 4S7SKR, Senarath 4S6WAS and Nadika 4S6NCH along with nearly 25 others. Look out for them on 21,14, 7 and VHF too. There will be a special QSL card that will be issued.
The Council of management of the RSSL wish to thank all those who are participating and carrying Amateur Radio to the community at large.
